Cafaro Foundation Awards Record Number of Scholarships
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Thirty-one high school seniors will share $71,000 in William M. and Alyce Cafaro college scholarships awarded this week by the Cafaro Foundation.
The number of students receiving aid is the highest in the 20-year history of the foundation. Last year 28 students shared $67,000 in scholarships, said Joe Bell, Cafaro director of corporate communications.
Trustees of the Cafaro Foundation selected the recipients based primarily on the students’ academic merit, while also considering their financial need and the recommendations of teachers and guidance counselors, Bell noted.
The William M. and Alyce Cafaro Scholarship recipients are Jowad Atway, Rayann Atway, Isabella Caruso, Allison Christopher, Julia Denman, Iva Domitrovich, Margaret Herberger, Clayton Kohur, Haneen Kotb, Charles Latronico, Jr., Erica Lehn, Stephen Listisen, Alexa Marco, Michaela Mears, Beverly Nelson, Alexandra Newman, Kara Potkonicky. Gregory Prystash, Maura Rubinic, Oliva Shurell, Rebeka Simon, Francesca Strollo and Courtney Weimer.
Donald P. Pipino Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Kaylyn Hoschar, Joshua Schlueter, Hayley Eicher, Alex Bohr, Jared Bohr and Tyler James Calpin.
