Cambouris Named Administrator of Steel Museum

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University has appointed Jonathan Cambouris as museum administrator for the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, colloquially known as the Steel Museum. Cambouris brings with him a wealth of nonprofit leadership experience and a passion for community involvement.

The appointment of Cambouris marks a pivotal moment for the museum as he aims to strengthen the museum’s ties with the local community while enhancing its outreach, according to YSU. He plans to work in tandem with YSU and the Ohio History Connection.

Cambouris serves on many nonprofits throughout northeastern Ohio’s Greek community. Among them are the American Hellenic Progressive Association, The Kalymnian Beneficial Society of Prodromos, the Hellenic Preservation Society of Northeastern Ohio, and his continued role as executive director for the Greek Garden Association of Cleveland, a nonprofit dedicated to the conservation and enhancement of the Greek Cultural Garden in Rockefeller Park.

While obtaining his master’s degree in applied history, Cambouris served the museum as a graduate research assistant, where he engaged in multiple projects, including a SWOT-based study, highlighting the impact of Covid 19 on cultural institutions.
