Campbell Team Heads to Destination Imagination Finals

CAMPBELL, Ohio — Five Campbell City School students will advance to the Destination Imagination Global Finals, which will take place May 25 to 28 in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Campbell DI Devils placed second at the state competition April 16 at Mt. Vernon High School. Members of the winning team include Emily Reninger, Courtney King, Angeleah Matzye, Taylor King and Joseph Broz

Campbell’s DI Team will be among more than 8,000 students representing more than 1,400 teams advancing to Global Finals, which will be held at the University of Tennessee. Students attending the competition will be representatives from 39 different states and 15 different countries

“This is a very big accomplishment for our small town of Campbell, Ohio,” said Taylor King, DI Devils eighth grade team member.

During the finals, the team will compete in the Middle Level Pace of Change Technical Challenge. In this category, the students will participate in one of seven, open-ended challenges that require students to apply STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics — skills, in addition to their talents in improvisation, theater arts, writing, project management, communication, innovation, teamwork, community service and social entrepreneurship.

“Our students and coaches have worked so hard for this opportunity. We are thrilled they are moving on to the Global Finals at the end of May,” said Jane Buckingham, Campbell assistant principal.
