Canfield Fair Board Names New Manager

CANFIELD, Ohio – Skye Tancer has been named the new manager of the Canfield Fair.

Tancer will take over the position upon the retirement of Bev Fisher at the end of September, according to a press release from the fair’s board of directors.

Tancer served in various roles with the U.S. Air Force at Dayton and Vienna, achieving the rank of senior master sergeant prior to her military retirement.

At the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna, she made history as the first female flight engineer. Most recently, Tancer was a development officer for the Youngstown State University Foundation, where she focused on major gift procurement.

Tancer has a bachelor’s degree from YSU and multiple associate’s degrees from the Air Force Community College. She is a member of the Junior League of the Mahoning Valley and sits on the advisory board for the Rich Center for Autism.

“On behalf of the Canfield Fair Board, I thank retiring fair manager Bev Fisher for her outstanding years of service,” said Dave Mannion, board president. “Skye is the perfect successor to Bev, and I am excited to see how she will utilize her skills, connections, and experience to continue to move the fair and fairgrounds forward.”

Fisher has been the fair manager for 29 years, moving into the position in 1995. She was the first – and only – person to occupy the position.

The Canfield Fair is the largest county fair in the state and is celebrating its 178th year in 2024. This year’s event, which will open Aug. 28 and run through Sept. 2, will be Fisher’s final one as manager.
