Car Sales Dip Across Mahoning Valley in July
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – New car sales across the Mahoning Valley were down in July, data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association show. In Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, 2,514 new vehicles were delivered to customers, down 18.1% from July 2015.
Used car sales were down 15.2% to 1,796.
Chevrolet once again held the top four spots for the Valley’s most popular models, with the Silverado topping sales in the three counties with 171 delivered, five fewer than a year ago. Following the pickup truck was the Chevy Equinox, 160 sold, 59 fewer than last July; the Lordstown-built Cruze, 131, down 43; and the Malibu, 109, down 12. The Ford F150 rounded out the top five with 81 sold.
Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, once again topped the Mahoning Valley new car sales chart with 187 vehicles leaving its showroom, a slight dip from July 2015. Greenwood was followed by Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, with 149 cars sold; Sweeney Buick GMC, Boardman, 140; Fred Martin Ford, Austintown, 103; and Taylor Kia, Boardman, 97.
Taylor Kia took the top spot as the Valley’s top used car dealer, seling 97 pre-owned models last month. Despite the dip in new-model sales, the Cruze continued its streak of being the area’s top selling used car as 85 were sold in July.
