Career Center Offers Manufacturing Readiness Program
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The Lawrence County Career and Technical Center will offer a six-week Manufacturing Readiness Program May 26 through July 17 to new high school graduates and adults.
It will be held at the Lawrence County Crossing of Butler County Community College.
The program, valued at $4,000 per participant, is free because the center received a grant, said Katie Foster, sector partnership coordinator.
Each participant will be accorded the opportunity to receive guidance from a career coach and develop his own career plan, develop workplace and personal skills through manufacturing-related learning, learn the basic skills to enter more advanced manufacturing and engage in mock interviews.
Students who successfully complete the program will earn six manufacturing credentials that include a WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate, a 10-hour credit that complies with OSHA-compliant safety standards for general industry, and the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council Certified Production Technician credential.
The Oh-Penn Manufacturing Collaborative is an active partner in the Manufacturing Readiness Program, and members prefer to hire program graduates, Foster said.
Those interested should contact Debby Gagliano to register before May 18 at 724 656 3165, ext. 210.
