Cascade Auto Group First to Test EV Tax Credit Program

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio – Beginning next year, customers who buy electric vehicles from Cascade Auto Group will be able to transfer their federal tax credit to the dealership selling the vehicle and then use those funds as a down payment.

Cascade Auto Group has been authorized by the Internal Revenue Service as the first light-vehicle dealership in the United States to put in place the Electric Vehicle Tax Credit reimbursement program.

“We are proud to be the first among more than 18,000 dealerships in the United States to offer this program,” said Michelle Primm, Cascade Auto Group managing partner. “We want to be ready for our clients with all the information they’ll need if they choose to purchase an electric vehicle. We are pleased to help set the standards for our industry.”

Primm has developed relationships with industry trade groups, regulators and legislators in both Columbus, Ohio, and Washington, D.C., for more than 15 years as a National Auto Dealers Association board member. When the call went out from the IRS for help in developing a user-friendly website, Primm offered her help.

“When the Cash for Clunkers website failed years ago, our office manager experienced firsthand what a bad site was,” Primm said.

As an early focus group participant, Cascade was invited to test the new program and was chosen by the IRS to move ahead with it.

Cascade Auto Group, which was established in 1969, is composed of Cascade Mazda, Cascade Subaru and Audi Cuyahoga Falls.
