Chamber Seeks Support for Missile Defense Site

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber’s Eastern Ohio Military Affairs Commission is encouraging community stakeholders to submit letters of support for a proposal to bring a large Eastern States Missile Defense site to Ravenna.

Camp Ravenna Joint Military Center, which straddles Trumbull and Portage counties, is one of three finalists being considered for the project. The other two are in Michigan and New York.

The project has the potential to create an enormous economic impact in the region — projected billions of initial construction investment — with potential long-term positive impact on site and at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station as an ancillary site for materials transportation, said John Rossi, president of the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber Foundation.

The Military Affairs Commission, along with other state military support organizations, are encouraging community stakeholders to submit letters of support for this project. A sample letter follows:
