Chamber to Unveil Workforce Initiative Feb. 4
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber will unveil a new jobs and workforce initiative at its annual Economic Forecast Breakfast 7:30 a.m. Feb. 4 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, Boardman.
Tom Humphries, the Regional Chamber’s president and CEO, and a panel of chamber partners will present the initiative, which is designed to help close the gap between the demand for skilled labor and the supply of workforce-ready employees in the Mahoning Valley.
The effort will be “a one-stop service to promote the thousands of available jobs in our Valley, provide workforce data to educators in order to encourage occupations where there is a predicted shortfall and provide drug testing, background checks and skills testing for qualified applicants,” according to the news release announcing the event.
Jeff Wagner, senior vice president and chief investment officer at First National Bank of Pennsylvania, also will discuss national and global economic trends at the event. And the chamber’s senior vice president of economic development, Sarah Boyarko, will outlineon local 2015 projects and look ahead to pending investment in the Mahoning Valley.
The cost to attend the event is $25 for chamber members and $35 for non-members. To register, visit the calendar of events section of the chamber’s website.
