Two generations of the Gearhart family have been involved with the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. Whether participating personally or through their company, DCW Group in Boardman, Bob Sr. and Bob Jr. enjoy seeing the positive impact on area youth.
“In order to change the future, we have to start today,” Bob Gearhart Sr. says. “And we get excited to see the impact that you’re making on our youth.”
“To me, it centers around evolution and impact,” Bob Gearhart Jr. says. “When you see the impact that it is making in the youth in our community, who will certainly then surpass me in taking into the future … that’s the most exciting part about supporting United Way.”
In their interview with Roxann Sebest, the Gearharts discuss the importance of playing an active role in building one’s community. “We derive our living and our work off of businesses here in the Valley,” Gearhart Sr. says. “And we just feel obligated to help those in the community to make this a better place to live.”
