Charlie Staples Issues Recall Notice for BBQ Sauces
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Charlie Staples Bar-B-Que is issuing a voluntary recall of its Charlie Staples “Real” Original and Hot BBQ Sauces sold in 20-ounce glass jars.
The products included in this recall are adulterated because they were produced without the benefit of inspection and the safety parameters were not able to be verified, according to a press release from Charlie Staples that was disseminated by the state agriculture department.
No reports of illness involving the products have been reported. However, individuals exhibiting signs or symptoms of foodborne illness should contact a physician immediately, the press release states.
The products were available for sale from March 6, 2020, through Feb.21, 2023, at Charlie Staples Bar-B-Que, 372 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown.
The issue was discovered during a routine inspection conducted by the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Anyone who purchased these products between the aforementioned dates should dispose of them or return them to Charlie Staples Bar-B-Que for a replacement or refund.
