Circle K Owner to Acquire GetGo Stores from Giant Eagle
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Under an agreement announced Monday, Giant Eagle Inc. will sell its GetGo Café + Markets to Canadian-based Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc.
The acquisition is expected to close in 2025 and is subject to standard regulatory approval and closing conditions. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
Also Monday, Japan’s Seven & i Holdings, owner of 7-Eleven convenience stores, announced that it has received a buyout offer from Couche-Tard, The Associated Press reported.
GetGo stores employ approximately 3,500 employees and operate approximately 270 convenience retail and fueling locations across Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana.
As part of the transaction, Couche-Tard and Giant Eagle have agreed to maintain and partner on Giant Eagle’s myPerks loyalty program.

The supermarket retailer is “energized by the potential for both Giant Eagle and GetGo as a result of this transaction,” said Bill Artman, chief executive officer of Giant Eagle. “This enhances our focus on our core supermarket and pharmacy businesses, strengthening Giant Eagle and better enabling us to make strategic investments in our people, stores and value proposition while matching GetGo with the perfect partner in Couche-Tard.”
According to its website, Alimentation Couche-Tard, which operates Couche-Tard, Circle K and Ingo brands, has 2,142 stores in Canada, 7,131 in the United States and 5,272 in Europe and other regions.
