Cirque du Soleil Will Swarm into Covelli with Whimsical ‘OVO’ Show

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Cirque du Soleil will return to Covelli Centre this weekend with four performances of its updated “OVO” show.

“OVO” is a colorful intrusion into the life of insects that comes across as a riot of energy and movement. Through amazing acrobatics that highlight the personalities and abilities of selected insect species, “OVO” explores the beauty of biodiversity.

For its relaunch in 2022, three new acts and several new characters were incorporated into the show.

From mighty crickets bouncing off trampolines to a hypnotic spider contorting inside her web, “OVO” tickles the imagination. Funny and chaotic, adorable and wonderful, the show “charms the inner child with its sweet exuberance,” according to its description in press materials.

Composed of 100 cast members from 25 countries, including 52 artists, “OVO” (“egg” in Portuguese) has been seen by 7 million people since its opening in Montreal in 2009. It has been performed in over 160 cities in 30 countries.

Cirque du Soleil shows have appeared multiple times at Covelli Centre in the past two decades, most recently in 2018.

Performances of “OVO” will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, June 7; 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday, June 8; and 1 p.m. Sunday, June 9.

Tickets range from $127 to $52 (plus applicable fees) and are available at ticketmaster.com and the Covelli box office.
