City Places Moratorium on Water Disconnections

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The City of Youngstown announced Wednesday that Mayor Jamael Tito Brown is placing a moratorium on all water disconnections.

All Youngstown Water Department customers will have service through the holidays, according to the statement. The moratorium is in effect from Nov. 25 to Jan. 4, 2021.

Customers are encouraged, however, to continue making regular payments. The water department will continue to monitor accounts during the moratorium period. Any accounts identified has having engaged in illegal activity will be subject to the department’s policies and procedures to have service restored, the released stated.

Customer service in City Hall, 26 Phelps St., will remain open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday. All City Hall employees, visitors and customers must wear a face mask and pass security and temperature checks before access is granted.

City Hall will be closed to walk-in traffic Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving. Customers can call 330 742 8749 or visit YoungstownOhio.gov/water for service.
