City, YSU Announce Frenzy on Federal Event
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Kicking off the slate of summer events in downtown Youngstown, the first Frenzy on Federal event will take place 2 to 11 p.m. April 25. The event is the combination of Youngstown State University Penguin Productions’ successful Live on Lincoln and Party on Phelps events.
The event also is being sponsored by the YSU Rich Center for Autism and the city of Youngstown.
Musical events for Frenzy will take place at Martini Brothers Burger Bar, O’Donold’s Irish Pub and Suzie’s Dogs & Drafts in the afternoon, with outdoor performances beginning at 6 p.m. Each venue will host a national touring artist, according Michael McGiffin, director of downtown events for Youngstown. A local artisan market will be held on Phelps Street between Federal and Commerce streets during the event.
The event is open to the public and tickets are not required.
Headlining the event is Red Wanting Blue, a rock band from Athens, Ohio; YSU graduate Jordan DePaul; and grunge band Bully. In all 17 artists are scheduled to perform, including 10 bands with connections to YSU.
Other confirmed artists include Pittsburgh soul-funk band Joy Ike, spoken word poet and songwriter 7Hykoo, and The Lighthouse and The Whaler, who recently performed at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
The Summit FM, a sponsor of the event, will give out the Listener’s Choice Award, with the winner offered the opportunity to record three songs in the Akron radio station’s Audio-Technica Studio C.
