CityScape Seeks Donations for ‘Sparkle Youngstown’
YOUNGSTOWN – CityScape is hoping to raise $10,000 to fund “Sparkle Youngstown,” the annual downtown lighting program that begins in December and runs through February.
The nonprofit organization is soliciting donations through GoFundMe and its website.
Some 50,000 lights will be installed throughout the Central Square area as part of CityScape’s annual holiday parade and Christmas tree lighting event.
For the past several years, Youngstown CityScape and other downtown stakeholders have taken the lead in organizin the holiday events. While the lighting of the Christmas tree has long been an annual tradition, the recent expansion of lighting throughout the downtown is also growing in popularity.
“Like with most projects of this nature, it requires funding,” says CityScape’s executive director, Sharon Letson.
For every donation of $25 or more, Letson notes, a contributor’s name will be added to a donor appreciation sign that will be posted in Central Square when the lights are installed during the first week of December.
All donations are tax-deductible.
