Clarett Buys Oak Hill Building for $150K
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Maurice Clarett, founder of The Red Zone, announced Tuesday he purchased the building at 240 Oak Hill Ave.
The Warren native and former Ohio State University running back purchased the office building for $150,000, according to a news release.
The property is less than two blocks from the headquarters of The Red Zone, the behavioral health agency Clarett founded in 2016. It has offices in Youngstown and Columbus.
Clarett said he intends to renovate the nearly 30,000-square-foot office building, but plans for what will eventually occupy it are not final.
“Youngstown has given me so many things in my life,” he said. “I’m committed to doing what I can to give back to this city and this community while helping to rebuild lives and strengthen our community. I hope to be able to announce future plans for this space in the coming months.”
The Red Zone provides summer enrichment programs for students, as well as behavioral health and substance abuse counseling. According to Youngstown City Schools, 300 of its students participate in Red Zone programs. On average, students’ GPA increased 16.5% after enrolling.
