Colucy Appointed Vice-chancellor of Diocese of Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Most Reverend Bishop David J. Bonnar has announced the appointment of Dominic Colucy to vice-chancellor of the Diocese of Youngstown, to assist chancellor Joan Lawson in the execution of her duties. The appointment took effect July 1.

Colucy’s title also has changed from safe environment coordinator to director of the office of safe environment, effective immediately. He will continue working with Safe Environment compliance officers at diocesan parishes and schools to provide training for clergy, employees, volunteers and parents so that they can identify signs of abuse or grooming behavior and how to report it.

Colucy has worked in the diocese since 2017, previously as director of religious education at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist and Saint Peter Parish in Canton. He is a graduate of rhe Duke University Divinity School and Walsh University.

“As vice-chancellor I look forward to assisting our chancellor, Joan Lawson, and I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve the faithful of the Diocese of Youngstown. Additionally, knowing how much Bishop Bonnar supports the ministry of safe environment and child protection, I am honored that he has entrusted me with this important responsibility. I am excited to continue working closely with our vicar general, Msgr. John Zuraw, and the safe environment compliance officers in our parishes, schools, and institutions to create and maintain a safe environment for our children, young people and vulnerable adults.”
