Columbiana Gets $50K Grant for Students’ Downtown Project
COLUMBIANA, Ohio – The city has received a $50,000 grant to complete the Garden of Eatin’ project downtown.
The project, which would create an outdoor space with tables at 17 S. Main St., was conceptualized by students in the creative entrepreneurship class at Columbiana High School.
It was selected as one of the 25 T-Mobile Hometown Grant recipients for 2024, from more than 650 submissions.
Since April 2021, T-Mobile has committed more than $14 million dollars in Hometown Grants to 325 communities across the country.
The Garden of Eatin’ will be the third placemaking project completed in downtown Columbiana in partnership with the Columbiana High creative entrepreneurship class.
The vacant gravel lot owned by Brad and Becky Rance will be transformed into a space for art, dining and entertainment.
Officials from T-Mobile will come to Columbiana on Sept. 20 for a check presentation ceremony that will take place prior to the high school’s football game at newly restored Fisher Stadium in Firestone Park.
