Commerce Secretary to Tour America Makes
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Ptizker and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-13 Ohio, will tour America Makes downtown Thursday, Ryan’s office announced a short while ago.
Pritzker also will meet with the public-private institute’s leadership and participate in a roundtable with local business leaders and industry partners, according to the news release issued by Ryan’s office.
Also on hand Thursday will be Ed Morris, America Makes director, and Ralph Resnick, America Makes’ founding director and executive director of the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining, which operates the institute.
America Makes, which focuses on additive manufacturing and 3-D printing, is one of six institutes in the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation.
Originally known as the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, it was established in 2012, the first of a series of such manufacturing hubs proposed by President Obama.
