Community Foundation Awards Nearly $400,000 in Grants

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley and its supporting organizations awarded nearly $400,000 in grants as part of the first-quarter grant cycle.

The foundation’s general grant program awarded 23 grants for $186,850 in the first quarter, while the William Swanston Charitable Fund awarded seven grants for $89,600, the Western Reserve Health Foundation awarded two grants for $25,000, and the Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation awarded five grants for $93,000.

“These grant recipients are working on important projects across Mahoning and Trumbull counties addressing critical issues like job training, addiction recovery and workforce development,” said Shari Harrell, president of the Community Foundation. “Several nonprofits also received support in the form of operations grants, which is part of our work to help them maximize their impact across the board and put their expertise to work in a way that works best for them.”

The Community Foundation and its supporting organizations have quarterly deadlines for grant applications. The remaining deadlines this year are April 1, July 1 and Oct. 1. For more information on grant opportunities, go to CFMV.org/apply.
