Community Foundation Names McGlothren Operations and Grants Administrator

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley has hired Kathleen (Kat) McGlothren as its operations and grants administrator. She is the foundation’s third hire in the past year as it works to expand its capacity to support the nonprofit community.

As operations and grants administrator, she is responsible for efficient office operations and administrative functions such as record keeping, data management and assisting CFMV president Shari Harrell. She also directly supports the grants and scholarship processes.

McGlothren, a life-long Youngstown resident, studied dance at The Ohio State University and vocal performance at Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music. She then worked as a retail manager at various companies and has done freelance proofreading and editing since 2007.

She returned to Youngstown State as a nontraditional student, where in 2001 she received her degree in professional and technical writing, graduating magna cum laude. After graduation, Kat served as a dance teacher for Students Motivated by the Arts and continued her role as a freelancer before finding her new home at the foundation.
