Community Invited to Celebrate Opening of Struthers Dog Park
STRUTHERS, Ohio – The Marjorie Hartman Struthers Unleashed Dog Park is nearing completion and will open to the public at 5 p.m. Saturday.
The park, located at Grimm Nebo Field at the end of East Haywood Street, features a 50-foot-by-140-foot fenced area, with separate sections for large and small dogs.
To celebrate the grand opening, Struthers Unleashed, the nonprofit behind the project, will host a community festival from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m., followed by live music by Tyler Guerrieri, face painting, dog adoptions, food and refreshments from Hot Diggity Dog and dog-themed giveaways.
“We’re thrilled to open this spacious park for our community’s dogs and to celebrate this addition to Nebo with our residents,” said Josh Miely, president of Struthers Unleashed.
The park is free to everyone and has been fully funded by the Marjorie Hartman Foundation, the Struthers Rotary and private donations. It was also made possible through the collaboration of local businesses, including AH Restoration, Austintown Fence, Christ Lutheran Church (Struthers), Clever Marketing Agency, EndTime Grafix, JPC Construction, Municipal Signs, S&T Engraving, Turd Bandit and the Struthers High School construction classes.
“The city of Struthers, my office and my family are excited to add a dog park to our city, especially in the Nebo neighborhood,” Mayor Cat Cercone-Miller said. “A dog park was a top priority identified during our community engagement for the comprehensive plan. This project exemplifies the kind of community-driven effort we envisioned when we launched Discover Struthers. We encourage residents to share their ideas for future projects via our online Discover Struthers platform.”
