Community Pride Picnic Promotes Chaney, East High
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Derrick McDowell, community engagement and inclusion coordinator for Wean Park, invites the community to the free Youngstown City School District’s Community Pride Picnic, Oct. 18 from 1 to 2 p.m. at The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre.
The gathering is an effort to unite the city, Youngstown City School District and the East and Chaney High School football programs. The amphitheatre will be decorated in Chaney’s red and gray, and East’s blue and gold, prior to the Oct. 22 Chaney-East football game at Rayen Stadium.
Players and coaches from both teams will be in attendance.
All Youngstown City School District alumni, those from the surrounding areas, parents, players and community members are invited to this celebration. Food will be provided, although in a limited amount.
This is an invitation to all YCSD alumni [and surrounding areas], parents, players and community members.
Athletic season passes for both schools will be on sale.
The Amphitheatre lawn will become a “makeshift” football field, perfect for any fans to relive old memories or work out some aggression by throwing footballs. There will be backdrops for photos and much more.
Youngstown City School District, Youngstown Police Department, Community Initiative to Reduce Violence, JAC Management Group LLC, the City of Youngstown and other sponsors listed HERE are sponsoring the event.
Though this is an outdoor event, masks and social distancing are recommended, regardless of vaccination status.
