Contest Will Turn Children’s Drawings into Real Playhouses

NILES, Ohio – A contest at Eastwood Mall will allow 10 children to draw their own designs for life-size, one-story playhouses.

To submit drawings for the Imagination Creation contest, which will run through April 30, age-eligible children are to draw, color and illustrate a picture of a playhouse on at least an 8 1/2-inch-by-11-inch sheet of paper. The entry should include the name, address, parent/guardian phone number and age of the child on the back of the submitted drawing.

Designs will be judged in two groups: ages 6 to 9 and 10 to 14. On May 1, a panel of three judges will choose first-, second- and third-place winners in each age group. The winning designers will receive mall gift cards. A table containing the entries will be available for the public to vote on a People’s Choice winner for both age groups.

All drawings will be displayed at Eastwood Mall.

Judges will also select the 10 best designs, and local contractors will turn those drawings into real playhouses, which will be displayed inside Eastwood Mall from June through mid-August. The playhouses will be auctioned off at the end of the display period, and proceeds will go toward Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.

Children can submit their drawings at the Eastwood Mall customer service center or mail them to the Eastwood Mall marketing office at 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles, OH 44446.

No entry will be accepted after April 30, and all drawings received in the mail must be postmarked no later than that date.
