Cortland Bank to Host Free Homebuyer Seminar
CORTLAND, Ohio – Cortland Bank is hosting a free educational seminar for potential homebuyers at 6 p.m. Feb. 20, at the Newport Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County.
Mark Chuey, vice president and retail mortgage banking officer at Cortland Bank will cover topics ranging from how to qualify for mortgage loans, down payment requirements, finding affordable housing and available grants to assist prospective homebuyers in the one-hour seminar.
The availability of affordable housing in the region, as well as nationally, has dwindled over the past few years, according to Chuey.
“As a result, prospective buyers need to be better prepared and educated as to what they can afford and how they can qualify for financing so that they are able to successfully secure what inventory is available,” Chuey said.
Information will be provided on the new Welcome Home Program, which provides up to $5,000 for closing costs and a down payment for qualified applicants.
Cortland Bank is a participating lender in the Welcome Home Program, and funds will be available to qualifying applicants in March. Interested parties can contact Cortland Bank for the exact date and availability. These funds are available for a limited time only, so prospective buyers are encouraged to act quickly.
Chuey also will talk about basics of mortgage loans and how to qualify, the value of good credit, down payment requirements, and the need for preapproval.
To register for the free homebuyer seminar, call 330 282 4139 or email [email protected]. Light refreshments will be served.
