Cortland Creates Façade Grant Program
CORTLAND, Ohio – The city of Cortland has launched a new façade grant program for city property owners and businesses.
Administered by City Council’s marketing and business growth committee, the program offers financial assistance to property owners and businesses within the city limits, encouraging them to restore and enhance the facades of their buildings, according to a news release from the city.
“The facade grant program is a remarkable opportunity for our community to come together and breathe new life into our city,” Mayor Deidre Petrosky said. “We encourage all eligible property owners and businesses to take advantage of this initiative and help us make Cortland even more beautiful and inviting.”
Eligible applicants can receive matching grants of 25%, up to $2,500, to cover façade improvement costs including exterior painting, signage, window replacements, awnings and other expenses, according to the news release. The intent of the incentives is to stimulate investment in Cortland, ultimately boosting property values and local comerce
The city has set aside $15,000 each for this year and 2024 from the city’s general fund for the program, Petrosky said. Plans are in the works to implement new planning and zoning policies to generate additional revenue with the intent of making the program self-sustaining.
