YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — John Stewart, chief investment officer for Farmers Trust Co. brings you the first episode of The Investors Edge. In this episode, Stewart discusses a new army of retail traders taking the stock market by storm.

With social media at their disposal, day traders are collaborating to drive up the price of low-priced stocks to push positions against large hedge funds to make “massive gains,” he says.

Still, Stewart cautions investors to not miss the forest while looking at the trees.

“While everyone’s been paying attention to the penny stock and day trading craze, they may be missing a really good investment opportunity to go investing abroad,” he says. “Specifically, the emerging markets look very attractive relative to more expensive U.S. markets.”
