Deadline Is June 30 for Youngstown Press Club Scholarships

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – College students who want to apply for a Youngstown Press Club scholarship have until June 30 to submit their applications. 

The two $2,000 scholarships are being awarded to college juniors or seniors from the Mahoning or Shenango valleys who are studying journalism or a related field.

One scholarship will be awarded to a journalism major, and another to a student studying public relations, marketing, broadcasting or another communications-related field.

Applicants must live in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Mercer or Lawrence counties, though they may be attending college elsewhere.

Applicants must submit proof of at least a 3.0 grade-point average and at least two writing or broadcast samples. They also should provide examples of community involvement.

Winners will be announced by early August. Scholarship recipients are encouraged to attend the Youngstown Press Club’s Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet at Stambaugh Auditorium on Sept. 7.
