Deadline Nears to Apply for Ohio Export Internship Program

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Thursday is the deadline for businesses to apply for the Ohio Export Internship Program.

The program, created by the Ohio Department of Development and offered at Youngstown State University, The Ohio State University, Cleveland State University, the University of Dayton, Ohio University and Bowling Green State University, matches businesses interested in growing exports with college students who have taken export-focused coursework.

The Ohio Department of Development offers participating small to medium-size businesses a 50% reimbursement for the wages of an intern.

Through the program, 466 students have interned at Ohio companies, resulting in 152 internship extensions, 81 new job positions and 424 new international markets, distributors or customers, according to a news release.

“Applications are a request for a meeting with Development and the local export advisor about the program, not a final commitment to hosting an intern,” the Export Internship Program’s website states.
