Developing Local Talent within the 5G Industry

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Lt. Governor Jon Husted visited the Excellence Training Center at Kohli Hall to announce a broadband 5G industry sector partnership grant program.

“We’re going to offer grants for educational institutions to partner with the industry on developing students and talent in the 5G and broadband sector,” Husted said.

He went on to announce the 5G readiness program, which will launch in the Spring of 2022 at Youngstown State University and Ashland University.

“The students who complete this program will understand the core fundamentals of 5G technology, which allow them to begin their careers in the telecommunications industry at a higher level than they otherwise would be eligible,,” Husted said.
