Dollar General Opens North Jackson Store

NORTH JACKSON, Ohio – Dollar General has opened its newest store here at 10701 Mahoning Ave., with a grand opening celebration to be held Saturday.

On Saturday, the first 50 shoppers will receive $10 gift cards, the first 200 will receive a tote bag with product samples and, throughout the day, other giveaways will be held. The store will open at 8 a.m.

“Dollar General is committed to delivering a pleasant shopping experience that includes a convenient location, a wide assortment of merchandise and great prices on quality products,” said Dan Nieser, Dollar General’s vice president of real estate and store development, in a release.

Most Dollar General stores employ between six and 10.

The company, based in Goodlettsville, Tenn., operates more than 13,600 stores in 44 states.

Financial results for the company’s first quarter show net sales increased 6.5% to $5.61 billion compared to $5.27 billion in the 2016 first quarter. Same-store sales increased 0.7% over 2016. This was primarily due to an increase in average transaction amount, partially offset by a decline in traffic, the company said.
