Dutch Haus Inn, Williamson Earn Best Western Awards
COLUMBIANA, Ohio — Kelly Williamson, general manager of the Best Western Plus Dutch Haus Inn and Suites here, has been named “General Manager of the Year” as part of the 2020 Heroic Hospitality Stars awards presented by Best Western Hotel and Resorts.
David T. Kong, Best Western corporate president and CEO, says the awards recognize support of the hotel brand’s “vision to lead the industry in superior customer care” and in recognition of individuals who “go above and beyond to deliver heroic hospitality and create a memorable stay for each and every guest.”
When reviewing Williamson’s nomination, Wong says he was impressed with the extra efforts she made during the pandemic’s uncertain times, her leadership in keeping the hotel operating smoothly with half staff while also meeting cash flow goals, her “strength, optimism and compassion” for her team and the respect and admiration of her staff.
Williamson, a resident of Columbiana, will be recognized during Best Western’s virtual convention the week of Oct. 18. She is one of the original employees hired when the hotel opened in 2001, starting as a banquet server and working her way up to the top position.
In a corresponding achievement for the Dutch Haus Inn and Suites, and for the second time since becoming a Best Western Plus branded hotel, the property will be awarded the 2020 M.K.Guertin Award, the brand’s highest honor named after its founder.
The hotel competed with over 2100 properties in North America to receive this distinction, and is one of just 44 top-performing properties in the country to win the award.
The Best Western Plus Dutch Haus Inn and Suites is located on State Route 14 and was formerly known as the Das Dutch Village Inn.
