Eastern Gateway Hosting Financial Aid Event Feb. 14
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Eastern Gateway Community College will take part in a statewide financial aid assistance event to help parents and prospective college complete applications on Feb. 14 at it’s downtown Youngstown campus.
College Goal Sunday, organized by the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, begins at 2 p.m at the Valley Center, 101 E. Federal St. It is free, but registration is encouraged.
Parents and students will get help in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, to receive assistance such as the Federal Pell Grant, student loans and need-based state grants.
“The FAFSA is the key to funding college education and helping families to overcome financial barriers that otherwise prevent students from attending the institution they want to,” said Kelly Wilson, site coordinator for Eastern Gateway, in a release. “Studies show that a student is 50% more likely to attend college when they complete the FAFSA.”
