Eastern Gateway Names Crooks VP Academic Affairs
Eastern Gateway Community College this week announced that John R. Crooks will serve as its vice president of academic affairs. Crooks joins EGCC from Lorain County Community College in Elyria where he served as associate provost and director of the college’s distributed learning program. During a sabbatical from LCCC, Crooks spent six months on the Youngstown campus of Eastern Gateway Community College as vice president for program expansion and instructional technology. “Dr. Crooks brings experience in the classroom and in community college administration that will ensure our students receive the highest quality programming — on campus or online — that will prepare them for the workforce of today and tomorrow,” says Michael Geoghegan, interim president of EGCC. Crooks received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology from Northeast Missouri State University (currently Truman State University). He earned his doctorate from Bowling Green State University in 1993. His first day at EGCC is Monday.
