Eddy Dealerships Sold to Pittsburgh-Area Auto Group
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Bob and Chuck Eddy dealerships in Austintown have been sold to Pittsburgh-area Jim Shorkey Auto Group, it was announced Tuesday morning. Terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1969, the Eddy dealerships represented Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram in one building and Fiat and Alfa Romeo in an adjacent building.
Both were sold to Jim Shorkey III, whose auto group operates dealerships in North Huntingdon, Pittsburgh, Monroeville, Uniontown, White Oak and North Hills in Pennsylvania. The corporate headquarters is in North Huntingdon. The deal closed Monday.
Among the automakers Shorkey represents are Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Ram, Mitsubishi, Kia and Ford.
Calls to both Eddy and Shorkey were not immediately returned.
In recent months the Eddy dealerships encountered financial difficulties that delayed the company’s ability to deliver vehicles in a timely fashion to its customers. The delays said to result from difficulties with the agency that financed the vehicles. Social media posts from angry customers began to appear and rumors swirled about the cause of the problems.
As of posting, according to the Mahoning County auditor’s website, the parcels where the Eddy dealerships operate have not be sold. Shorkey filed documents June 20 with the Ohio secretary of state to create three limited liability corporations, including one as Jim Shorkey Youngstown Real Estate 1.
The land, which is recorded as 4836 Mahoning Ave., is owned by C Eddy I Properties LLC. The land and buildings are valued for property tax purposes at $1,446,960.
Shorkey will operate the dealerships as Jim Shorkey Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Youngstown and Jim Shorkey Youngstown Alfa Romeo, according to the secretary of state’s office.
