Ellwood Aluminum Casts Largest Aluminum Slab in N. America

HUBBARD, Ohio — Ellwood Aluminum Inc. announced Tuesday it has successfully manufactured a 95,000-pound aluminum slab, the largest ever produced in North America.

The cross-section sized aluminum slab was cast in partnership with Wagstaff Inc., and will be used for injection mold dies, according to a press release. Ellwood produces large-diameter aluminum ingot and billet, rectangular slab and cast plate to a customer’s specifications and preferred chemistries and alloys.

“We’re proud to have cast an aluminum slab of this size and quality,” said Patrick Callihan, president of Ellwood Aluminum. “We owe this achievement to our experienced team, our valued relationships with equipment manufacturers and the innovative technology that we have at our new Hubbard, OH facility.”

Aluminum slabs produced at Ellwood are approved by international and U.S. rolling mills, according to the release. The company serves industries including aerospace, defense, automotive and tooling.
