Youngstown Area’s Employment Drops in All Sectors

Albert Sumell, an economics professor at Youngstown State University, says employment in Youngstown dropped in all sectors last year.

Sumell says the Youngstown area saw a 10% drop in employment, the worst since the statistic began to be tracked 40 years ago.

“Even during the height of the Great Recession the decline in private-sector employment did not reach 10%,” Sumell says.
