Energy Startup Getting $500K from Mercer County Innovation Fund

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Mercer County Innovation Fund on Wednesday will present a $500,000 check to Advanced Power & Energy, a Greenville energy startup.

This is the first investment from the Mercer County Innovation Fund, which was launched by Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Central & Northern Pennsylvania and some local groups, including Penn-Northwest Development Corp., the City of Hermitage, the Shenango Valley Enterprise Zone and the Greenville Area Economic Development Corp. to provide support for technology-based startups and firms moving into the tech space.

“We are very happy to partner with the Ben Franklin technology partnership to finance the growth of advanced power and energy through the Mercer County Innovation fund,” said Rod Wilt, executive director of Penn-Northwest Development Corp. “This exciting startup corporation is primed to make big waves in the rapid charging of EV batteries.”

Ben Franklin Technology Partners has already been a “valued resource,” said George Bulick, president of Advanced Power & Energy. And he said the investment will help his company expand and “create jobs of the future and contribute to the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and small business environment in Mercer County and, specifically, in Greenville.”
