‘Evening in Spain’ Mixes Art, Music at Soap Gallery
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — “An Evening in Spain: A Musical and Artistic Experience” will take place at 6 p.m. Sept. 16 at The Soap Gallery here. The event is co-sponsored by the gallery and Opera Western Reserve, with PNC Bank the lead underwriter and additional underwriting support by the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals.
In advance of Opera Western Reserve’s Nov. 11 production of Bizet’s opera Carmen, the evening will bring together supporters of art and music, developing new audiences for Soap’s monthly art exhibits and live opera performances. The evening will feature live artistic creation, live musical performances by Young Artists of Opera Western Reserve, tapas, beer, wine and sangria.
Soloists will perform arias from Carmen and other Spanish-themed music, and artists will be live-painting a Spanish landscape and an abstract on the theme of Carmen. The artwork will be auctioned off at the completion of the event.
All profits from ticket sales will be shared by the two arts organizations. Proceeds from bar sales will benefit Opera Western Reserve.
The gallery’s September show, “Flickr Friends,” a show of photography from photographers around the country and world who have met and become friends on Flickr, will be on exhibit with works for sale.
The event will include a cash bar. General admission tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. For tickets, call 330 480 0693.
