Farmers Bank Promotes Mark Witmer, Tim Shaffer
CANFIELD, Ohio – Mark R. Witmer is officially senior executive vice president and chief banking officer of Farmers National Bank, Kevin J. Helmick, president and CEO, announced Wednesday.
Helmick also announced the promotion of Tim Shaffer, a senior vice president, as East regional president.
Under the agreement that Farmers and First National Bank of Orrville entered when Farmers agreed to acquire First National Bank, Witmer, then president and CEO of the Orrville bank, was to become senior executive vice president of the combined bank and its chief banking officer.
The acquisition resulted in Farmers Bank seeing its assets increase to $1.6 billion and 33 branches in seven counties across northeastern Ohio.
“His extensive background enables Witmer to provide valuable insights while evaluating the business conditions for markets in which [Farmers] operates,” the bank said in its announcement, “as well as future corporate strategies. In Witmer’s new position, he will create and execute a vision for all lending and credit functions in the East and West regions of the bank’s footprint.”
Witmer has also become a director on the bank board.
Shaffer, whose career as a banker covers three decades, was the Mahoning Valley commercial lending leader at Farmers before being named to his new post. With his promotion, “he will provide leadership and create a vision for lending, treasury management services and private client services for the entire East region,” the bank said.
Shaffer, who joined Farmers Bank in 2011, was became part of its senior management team in 2013 when he joined its board of directors.
