Farmers Donates 8,480 Books to Akron Children’s

CANFIELD, Ohio — This week, Farmers National Bank dropped off a donation of 8,480 books to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.

For its Reach Out and Read program, Farmers held a book drive from April 1 to May 15 at its branch locations. Each branch had posters to promote the book drive, as well as decorative collection boxes.

“We expected to have a good response, but we never imagined we would get close to 8,500 books,” said Amber Wallace, executive vice president, and chief retail and marketing officer for Farmers. “Giving back to local organizations is a priority for Farmers and our communities showed up in a big way. We cannot thank them enough.”

The drive was part of Farmers’ partnership with WKBN’s Caring for Our Community initiative. The bank also ran a public service announcement to encourage residents to get involved.
