Farmers National Bank to Open Office in Beachwood

BEACHWOOD, Ohio – Farmers National Bank is expanding its footprint with a new office in Beachwood at 27600 Chagrin Blvd., expected to be open in January.

The Beachwood office will add three new hires to Farmers’ commercial lending team: Christopher Smerglia, commercial lending team leader and market president; Jamie Brotherton, vice president, senior commercial relationship manager; and Bernard Dietzel, vice president, senior commercial relationship manager.

“Farmers National Bank is excited to welcome these three new hires to our newest branch in Beachwood. Each of these professionals brings a wealth of commercial lending experience and expertise, which will help us serve the businesses of Cuyahoga County,” said Joseph Gerzina, regional president-west and chief lending officer for Farmers in a news release.

Smerglia has 38 years of experience in banking with a primary focus on commercial lending and executive leadership. A graduate of John Carroll University, Smerglia recently served as an executive vice president and commercial lending team leader for a community bank serving northeast Ohio.

Brotherton is a graduate of John Carroll University and brings 27 years of banking expertise. Before joining the team at Farmers, Brotherton served in various positions at community and regional banks in the Cleveland area.

Dietzel brings 32 years of experience in banking and commercial lending. Dietzel is also a graduate of John Carroll University and has gained experience in administration, commercial lending and mortgage banking through his positions at Cleveland area banks, mortgage companies and financial institutions.

Farmers has over $2 billion in banking assets, over $1 billion in trust asset, and reported a third-quarter net income of $5.98 million.
