New Business Filings in Ohio Remain Strong
COLUMBUS, Ohio – In August, 7,512 entities filed to do business in Ohio, the office of secretary of states reports, nearly the same as August 2014 when 7,545 entities filed.
Through the first eight months of 2015, 67,374 new businesses have been formed in Ohio, maintaining course for 2015 to be another record-breaking year for the state, the office projects. At Aug. 31, 2014, 63,721 new businesses had been filed documents.
Effective Thursday, the fees charged by the secretary of state to start a new business in Ohio will be reduced 21%, making Ohio the least expensive state in the region to start and maintain a business.
Beginning in 2010, Ohio has experienced record business growth each year, the office says, because the office instituted electronic filing and today more than 80% of all filings are done online.
