Firehouse Subs Offers Free Deliveries to First Responders
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — With the long hours being worked by medical professionals and public safety personnel during the novel coronavirus pandemic, the owner of a local sub-sandwich shop is offering free delivery of catered meals to front line responders.
An initiative by Matt Liggett, Firehouse Subs Youngstown area representative and franchisee, is geared toward keeping health-care providers and first responders fed and he’s asking the community to help. Liggett encourages residents to donate catering orders to those on the front lines of dealing with the crisis.
Liggett and his team will deliver the meals free of charge. They’ve already donated and delivered some meals to overnight nurses, doctors and staff at Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
“These local heroes risk their lives to protect the public every day, especially now in these rapidly changing times. At Firehouse Subs, we believe it’s not enough to just make great subs; you have to do good, too,” Liggett said. “It’s an honor to help support our local first responders and healthcare workers by providing meals that will give them the strength they need to do their jobs effectively and keep our communities safe.”
Firehouse Subs in Boardman is located at 700 Boardman-Poland Road. It can be reached at 330 965 7827.
A family in Boardman donated 20 Firehouse Subs lunch boxes to families who have been laid off because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Old North Church will be distributing the lunch boxes to families in need.
