First Step Recovery Opens Trumbull’s First Detox Center
WARREN, Ohio – First Step Recovery, the first medically licensed sub-acute detoxification facility in Trumbull County, opened its doors Monday with a ribbon cutting and open house.
Dave Kapp and Tom Daily own first Step Recovery; the CEO is Cindy Woodford.
“We are excited to share our mission of providing high quality and effective addiction treatment with the community on this special occasion,” said Woodford.
First Step Recovery, 2737 Youngstown Road SE, offers 16 detox beds, extended stay housing as well as treatment services. Group and individualized counseling is provided, after-care follow-up and case management. Holistic activities include yoga, acupuncture and mindful meditation.
“First Step Recovery’s philosophy is to treat the whole individual – mind, body and spirit,” said Woodford, “not just the physical aspects of substance addiction.
On hand for the press event was U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-13, a nationally recognized proponent of mindfulness, who said facilities such as First Step Recovery are vital to dealing with the nation’s heroin epidemic.
“Our country is losing good people, not just in the inner cities but the suburbs and rural areas,” he said. It’s permeated the entire United States and we’ve got our work cut out to address this issue.”
