Flashback Minis: Celebrating the Holidays With Food Through the Centuries

While holiday traditions have changed throughout the centuries, one that has remained constant is food. Many of the food we enjoy at the holidays today could also be found on the menu in the 1800s.

The John Stark Edwards House in Warren was built in 1807 and is the oldest home still standing in Warren today. Edwards, the builder of the home, and his wife Luisa may have celebrated Christmas very differently than we would but their dinner table would have been filled with traditional food we still enjoy today.

Some of those dishes included turkey, ham, potatoes, and other vegetables easily grown in the soil in Ohio.
