Flashback Minis: Handmade 1925 Nightgown
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio– Serafina “Fannie” Brucoli was born in 1907. She was the second of 10 children in an Italian family living in Youngstown’s Brier Hill neighborhood.
Fannie Brucoli learned about cooking and hospitality from her mother, who made friends with their Brier Hill neighbors who came from many different countries. One of those neighbors was Michael Carmen Galose, who Fannie married when she was a young woman.
Fannie made this nightgown for her wedding to Mike in 1925. The bodice in made of crocheted lace and has pink ribbon trim. The skirt is made of natural muslin and has a lace hem.
