Flashback Minis: Hot Strip Mill Model
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio– This 79-inch hot strip mill model , which can be found inside the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, was manufactured in 1934.
Myron Curtis of Youngstown Sheet and Tube Campbell Works came up with the idea to build the model so he could take it to trade shows and conventions to properly demonstrate how the company made steel.
Three men in his employ, George V. James, John McCaughney and Edward Hendricks, built the fully-operational model.
