Flashback Minis: John Young Painting by Chris Yambar

A man by the name of John Young purchased land in the second range of Connecticut’s Western Reserve. The plot of land, then knows as Township Number Two, would later become the City of Youngstown.

This portrait of Youngstown founder John Young was painted by Chris Yambar for the city’s bicentennial celebration in 1996. Yambar’s work has been shown in galleries around the world.

Yambar died March 27 at age 59. A memorial celebration will be held at the SOAP Gallery in Youngstown on July 3rd from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
